  • Optis v Apple (Trial E) [2023] EWHC 1095 (Ch): FRAND determination under ETSI regime in respect of standard essential telecoms patents.
  • Optis v Apple (Trial B) [2021] EWHC 1739 (Pat); [2022] EWCA Civ 792: technical trial in respect of ETSI standard essential patents, successfully represented patentee Optis.

  Patents - Pharma/Biotechnology/Vaccines

  • Pfizer v GSK [2024] EWHC 2523 (Pat): acting for Pfizer in UK limb of multi-jurisdictional dispute concerning RSV vaccines. Successfully invalidated GSK patents, obtained Arrow declaratory relief and declarations of non-infringement in respect of Pfizer vaccines.
  • Sandoz & Ors v Bayer (Riveroxaban) [2024] EWHC 796 (Pat): represented Teva in preliminary injunction dispute following launch at risk by third parties.
  • ACD v Molecular Instruments [2024] EWHC 898 (Pat): infringement and invalidity dispute concerning ISH imaging kits and technology.
  • Gilead v Nucana [2023] EWHC 611 (Pat): representing Gilead (patentee).  Responsible for medicinal chemistry aspects of patent validity dispute concerning sofosbuvir Hep-C treatment.
  • Teva v Novartis (Exjade) [2022] EWHC 2847 (Pat): acting for Teva, successfully invalidated formulation patents in respect of iron chelation therapy.
  • Teva v Boehringer Ingelheim (Ireland) (Tiotropium): patent revocation case relating to inhaler devices.
  • Celltrion v Biogen (Rituximab) [2016] EWHC 188 (Pat): first application to have trials listed as close as possible to 12 month anniversary of the action being commenced in line with the Practice Statement issued by the Patents Court in December 2015.
  • Actavis v Novartis (Rivastigmine) [2015] EWHC 1068 (Pat): patent infringement and validity claim regarding a transdermal patch for rivastigmine, a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Gilead v Idenix (Sofosbuvir) [2014] EWHC 3916 & [2016] EWCA 1089: patent validity and infringement claims in relation to hepatitis C drug sofosbuvir.

  • L’Oréal v RN Ventures [2018] EWHC 173 (Pat): patent infringement and registered design claim with central issue of claim construction.

  • Dairy UK v Oatly AB [2024] EWCA Civ 1453: appeared for successful appellant Dairy UK on second appeal to CA to invalidate mark “POST MILK GENERATION”. Appeal concerned scope of legislation controlling use of “designations” concerning agricultural  and dairy products.
  • Combe International LLC v Dr Wolff GmbH [2022] EWCA Civ 1562: instructed on appeal. Dispute concerning VAGISIL/VAGISAN brands and period of acquiescence under s. 48 TMA 1994.
  • easyGroup v EasyLife  [2021] EWHC 2150 (Ch): acted for easyGroup in trade mark infringement and validity dispute.
  • Sazerac v Liverpool Gin [2020] EWHC 2424 (Ch): acted for defendants in trade mark dispute concerning EAGLE RARE bourbon brand.
