Judgment has been given in the media law case Quick Draw v Global Live Events & ors [2012] EWHC 2105 (Ch). Jonathan Hill acted as co-counsel for the successful claimant, a bridge financier which put up substantial loans to fund the Michael Jackson tribute concert at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. The claimant established trust and copyright and performers’ right claims against organizers of the concert, TV executive Chris Hunt and media lawyer Michael Henry, who were found to have attempted to divert the rights in the concert footage to a corporate vehicle outside the reach of the claimant’s security.
